Gianni Gaeta
Having previously planted only German speaking churches it was during Covid and Lockdown that God spoke to Gianni and told him to speak out the words ‘Life Church International’ There had previously been International English speaking lifegroups in the Life Church Vienna but this was the first time the idea of a totally English speaking church was birthed, and where better place than Vienna! Almost half of the people living in Vienna have a Non-German language and most can speak English. There are also many Austrians who want to speak English and so Life Church International is a much needed church to reach Internationals and those who deem themselves to be European. Many come to Vienna for or study from all over the world. Vienna is one of the few cities in the world to have a United Nations Base. The is city is ripe to reach Internationals which is why now is the time for a church in English. Gianni believes that this church will be a blueprint for other Life Churches with the growing International communities like in Villach. Life has the potential to impact Austria and beyond!
Gianni is very much hands on as Senior Leader of Life Church International and he says ‘After multiple church plants I still like to be personally involved in moving chairs, leading worship, and doing whatever it takes to start something new. It feeds the Pioneer Spirit in Me and prevents me from becoming a theorist’
Caroline Hickley
Caroline moved to Vienna from Devon in England in February 2023 when she heard the call of God to come and help establish Life Church International. Caroline is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God UK but believed that God would use her in church planting in Europe, and after connecting with Angela in UK in January 2020, here she is!
What she likes about Life Church:
It’s like home from home for her in terms of family and culture. She fits in so well with the great network of leaders across Austria. She loves the vision to see a church planted in every town and city across Austria, which was one of the reasons she gave up a job she loves and move to a different country to serve a big vision.
What they love about Austria:
Caroline still has a lot of Austria to see but loves the way of life, scenery and beautiful towns. She loves living in Vienna and enjoys the culture and quality of life in the city.
What they love about Church Planting and leadership:
This is Caroline‘s first time of Church planting but she loves it! She has found it to be exciting and likes that you have to be ready for the unexpected and be flexible. She has found the sacrifices so far to be worth it, to build and pioneer church in a way it has not been seen before in Vienna. To break new ground for Jesus is the best! She believes that she is the first of many missionaries coming from the UK to Austria.
What you must know about her:
Caroline loves people and trying to make them laugh! She has a great British sense of humour which makes her endearing to others! She loves to travel, go on adventures and drink coffee with friends! She is learning German although very slowly so is pleased she is planting an English speaking church!
